Pandemic. Uncertainty. Isolation. Stay home.

In that stillness, a question arrived: Is the world as you think it is?

This series is the answer, built in words. SUN SUN. YOU YOU. ART ART. JOY JOY. H2O H2O. AIR AIR. PEACE PEACE. HEART HEART. LOVE LOVE. Each word is painted twice, in letters half a meter high, on golden fabric stretched over canvas and later on black. The repetition turns reading into rhythm, and rhythm into mantra.

The idea is ancient. "You will eat the fruit of your mouth," says the Book of Proverbs: what we speak, we live on. The therapist Marisa Pear says the same in a modern voice: be careful with the words you think with, because words come true.

But the series also proposes that thinking is not only rational. The body thinks too. It doesn't argue, but it feels, knows and tells us what is good for us. These paintings are meant to be read with the whole body, standing in front of them, letting the words land.
